Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the school open with such low enrollment this year?

The Liberty Board is concerned about low enrollment and therefore commissioned a management study by Charter Solutions, Inc. to determine the root causes. Charter Solutions found that low enrollment was due to several primary factors: 1) poor marketing, 2) too much turnover in the Director position and 3) poor overall operational management, both from the board and the administration.

Did the management report have positive findings?

Yes! The report found that Liberty Academy has an excellent Academic Vision, a proven and well-respected curriculum (Core Knowledge), is compliant with the Utah State Core and has very qualified and capable teachers, and an excellent facility. The report also found that most students at the school are very happy to be here.

What is the school doing to rectify the problems?

Liberty Academy is aggressively addressing all of the issues outlined in the report. We have recently 1) enhanced our academic vision; 2) re-organized the Board of Trustees, 3) partnered with ALA to provide management oversight and board mentoring, 4) retained a long-term Administrator (Rob Muhlesten) and Assistant Administrator (Chris Crippen); both of whom have the experience, education and character to make Liberty Academy a resounding success.

What is the relationship of the partnership with ALA?

ALA will provide leadership and mentoring for our Board of Trustees and Administration as well as manage the school's finances. The two schools will also collaborate where possible to enhance our educational and extra-curricular programs.

Will Liberty become just a smaller version of ALA?

No. It is important to both schools that Liberty Academy remain different and unique from ALA. Our smaller, more quaint atmosphere is what makes us great. Our charter with the State of Utah will remain in place and has not been modified as a result of our partnership. The uniqueness of each school will allow us to cater to the different needs of families living in southern Utah County.

Will the curriculum stay the same?

YES! Liberty Academy will continue to honor the charter that was drafted and accepted by the founding families of the school. Enhancements may be added as times change and updated curricula become available, but the spirit of the charter is remains intact.

Is the school in good financial health?

Because of a recent reduction in staff as well as concessions from our landlord, Liberty is in good financial health for the entire school year and will be able to meet all of its financial obligations.

Are there seats available for new students?

Yes. Our class sizes are small and there is room for additional students in some classess. Our all-day Kindergarten has several seats available. Families interested in enrolling in Liberty Academy click here.
